Music Video Question

Explain how representations in music videos are chosen to promote the artist(s).  Most artists today promote themselves effectively by using representations in their music videos. It is common that pop artists to feature expensive objects/possessions in their music videos which shows off their wealth. It is also likely that artist use attractive men and women to promote the artist(s) as this will attract more viewers/audience and appeal to their target audience. The females un the music videos usually wear little clothing but the men are usually fully clothed which is part of the male gaze. The music videos for Unfinished Sympathy by Massive Attack and Titanium by David Guetta and Sia don't have these stereotypical things that are usually in music videos, they have promoted themselves in a different way. In the video for Unfinished Sympathy the artists are promoted as 'normal', down to earth people that have a past/background with street life. The artists don't stan...

Music Video Analysis Questions- Unfinished Sympathy & Titanium

What are the songs about? - I think that Unfinished Sympathy is a love song about if you get hurt by someone you're in love with you should still be strong and not let anyone knock you down because you are better than that and you should pick yourself up and not let it effect you. This makes it appeal to the target audience more as it is aimed at a young audience (around 18-29) and they would be able to relate to it as most people that age would be going through something like this or have already been through it. Love is a mainstream song topic therefore it would make it appeal to a wider audience. - I think Titanium is about a similar kind of thing. I think it is about strength and still be strong even when the world is its worse at you. As the song is called 'Titanium' meaning to be strong hearted and strong willed. This makes it appeal to their target audience which is around 13-29 so they would listen to the meaning of the song so it c...

Radiohead-The Band Radiohead are an English rock band from Abingdon, Oxfordshire, which formed in 1985. The band is made up of Thom York,  Jonny Greenwood,  Ed O'Brien, Colin Greenwood and Phil Selway. Thom York does lead vocals, guitar, piano and keyboard. Jonny Greenwood does the lead guitar, keyboard and other instruments. Ed O'Brian does guitar and backing vocals. Colin Greenwood does bass and Phil Selway does drums, percussion an backing vocals. Personally I think that the band are presented as quite weird, unique and unusual in their promotional material as it is very different to what I have seen before. They have worked with Nigel Godrich, a producer, and cover artist Stanley Donwood since 1994.  After signing to EMI  in 1991, Radiohead released their debut single ''Creep''  in 1992. It became a worldwide hit after the release of their debut album,   Pablo Honey  in  1993.  Radiohead's third album,   OK Computer in 1 997,...
